If you haven’t ever taken the time to check out George Plimpton’s “The Bogey Man,” be sure to put it on your reading list now. It is easily the most amusing and in some ways insightful book on golf ever written. Plimpton really captures the lonely, Pyrrhic struggle of the game, the sense that even the best shot in the world may be nothing more than a prelude to some ludicrous disaster on the following shot. Another great thing about this particular book on golf is that it offers a rare glimpse into the professional tour and the unique personalities that populated that world a few decades back. If you read only one book on golf, make it this one!

One problem most golfers face at one time or another is the golf slice. It wreaks havoc on a round of golf, that’s for sure. Getting tips on avoiding the golf slice can be extremely valuable for golfers of all levels.

Here’s a quick summary of golf tips to get rid of that nagging slice.

Everything starts with your stance, so make sure you’re standing properly with your shoulders, feet, and elbows aligned correctly. Then review your grip and ensure you’re holding the club with sufficient strength while careful not to hold on too tight. Otherwise, you might cure your slice, but replace it with hooking problems. Finally, practice, practice, and practice some more with the emphasis on your swing.

Hopefully, these golf tips will fix that annoying golf slice.

There are lots of sports where someone excels so quickly that they are labeled a natural at it. Rarely does that happen in golf. Even someone like Tiger Woods who appeared on TV at the age of two putting against Bob Hope has spent a great deal of time seeking out the best golf instruction that money could buy.

To non-golfers, there does not appear to be a great deal of difficulty to hitting a ball with a stick and then racing after it in a golf cart. Golfers, whether amateur or pro, know that the difference between a respectable round and an embarrassing disaster can be the result of a dozen different things. To get the proper stance, swing or follow-through, avid golfers return to course pros for golf instruction time and time again.

For some golfers out there, the biggest questions has to be how to stop hooking my golf shots. When the ball starts heading left and ends up in the woods, it creates big time problems for golfers. In addition to putting you out in the woods, it can take away distance from all of your shots and make you a much more inconsistent player on the course.

So how did I stop hooking my golf shots? It really comes down to changing your swing plane enough to make a difference. Most people hook their shots because they are coming over the ball with a closed club face. Others hook the ball because they are coming through the ball from too much of an inside angle. The key is to stay on a straight plane if you want success.

I’ve had my fair share of golf instruction lessons over the years, and the best session I’ve ever received came from a DVD set that I purchased a few months ago. I learned several useful things that have improved my driving distance, and there were also some wonderful putting drills. I have been playing for a long time, and it’s rare to find golf instruction lessons that are so concise and immediately useful. I would recommend that any golfer consider purchasing a video series and learning what they can in their free time at home. As long as you take the lessons to the course and put them into action, you will find them very beneficial.

If you are a once a week kind of golfer, then you have plenty of rounds under your belt. You understand exactly what club to pull depending on your distance to the pin. But what if someone told you that you could add distance as well as improve accuracy with a few golf swing lessons? You’d likely agree. When simple practice is not enough, it could be a great time to get a referral for some golf swing lessons. There is likely a golf buddy among your group that has spent some time with an instructor, and he or she would likely recommend golf swing instructions if nothing more than to give your drives a few extra yards off the tee. Whether you are new to the game of golf or a lifetime golf lover, a lesson can certainly not hurt your game.

No matter how good you are, it seems like slicing the ball is always going to be an occasional problem. Almost very year, I develop a slicing issue at one time or another. I bought a DVD with anti-slice tips a few years back, and every time my slice problems come up, I always refer back to it.

It’s amazing how much of a lifesaver that dvd’s been. It’s saved my bacon every single time I started slicing the ball. Usually I can get my game back on track after just a few sessions when I implement the anti-slice tips. It’s also amazing how many different things can cause you to start slicing the ball.

Do you play at the same golf course all the time? In most cases, the answer is probably yes. Do you shoot close to the same scores every time? The answer is also probably yes. You might not realize it, but by playing at the same course over and over, you’re taking away some of the excitement of the game, which can affect your passion. This, in turn, can lead to underachievement.

It’s always a good idea to find a better golf course – or at least a different one – in your area and play it once in a while. This will keep the game of golf fresh for you, which will often rejuvenate your passion for the game.

Deciding how to improve your golf game is something that every golfer goes through. It doesn’t matter if you are an excellent player or you’re just getting started. At ever level of the game, players are figuring out their weaknesses and trying hard to work those kinks out. But do you need private golf lessons? Will these lessons help you score better on the course.

What many golfers have found is that private golf lessons can be a really valuable resource. When they work directly with a pro, they make strides each and every time. The more important thing is that the teaching pro will give them strategies that they can work on when it comes time to hit the range on their own. That means that you can spend more time working on the problems on your own.

One of the coolest things about the PGA tour is not only watching the players, but also watching their caddies. If you’ve spent any time as a caddy, then you know what I’m talking about. My life as a caddy has been both wonderful and hectic. It’s allowed me the chance to spend a lot of time on the course, but what you will find is that being a caddy is about much more than just knowing the greens and knowing the proper distances.

My life as a caddy has taken me into amateur psychology. Handling the course is important, but it is not nearly as important as handling the emotions and dealing with the ups and downs brought about by the players that I work with. What do you do when they hit a bad shot? What if you give them bad advice? How do you keep them calm when the pressure is on? These are questions that I’ve had to answer, and it’s much more a challenge than it might look like to the average viewer.
